Warranties

FLUENT FLOORS SOLID & ENGINEERED PREFINISHED HARDWOOD FLOORING

The limited warranties set forth below apply only to pre-finished products. All warranties are limited to the original purchaser only.

FINISH WARRANTY

Fluent Floors warrants that the finish will not wear through to the wood within the amount of time specified or as long as the original purchaser owns the floor, whichever is less. Please refer to the individual product brochure for more information on your particular product. EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS DO APPLY. SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS.

  • Solid Prefinished - 25 Year Finish Warranty.*
  • Engineered Prefinished - 25 Year Finish Warranty.*

MATERIAL WARRANTY

Fluent Floors warrants that the products have been manufactured in compliance with the grading rules of Fluent Floors, and will be free from manufacturing defects for as long as the original purchaser owns the floor. Manufacturing defects do not include natural wood characteristics such as mineral streaks, knots, grain variations, normal minor differences between color of samples and the color of installed floors, color variations from board to board, or minor width variation. Due to the nature of wide width plank (3” and wider), some minor width variation is to be expected and is not considered a defect.

SAMPLE DISCLAIMER: Samples are produced from finished flooring material and should be a representative of some part of your floor. Larger areas of finished flooring will contain a greater variation of color, knots, grain, filler and distressing. Aged samples that have been exposed to direct light may appear to be a different color than the new material in the box. You may want to view a large sample or carton prior to installation to insure the product meets your requirements.

EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

These warranties do not cover damage, indentations, scratches, or stains arising from negligence, accidents, abuse, fire or excessive heat, abnormal wear, construction, spike heels, grit, sand or other abrasives, dents, insect infestation after the product has left our factory, or domestic animals. Splits and cracks after move-in are not normally manufacturer related.

These warranties do not cover damage caused by use of the flooring for purposes other than those for which it was designed; damage caused by disasters such as fire, flood, wind, and lightning; damage during shipment; or any other abuse or misuse by the purchaser.

It is critical that all installations are done in compliance with the procedures outlined in the Fluent Floors installation instructions, which can be found in each carton of flooring, on Fluent Floors website or through your Fluent Floors dealer. No damage or defects caused by improper installation or failure to provide a suitable installation environment are covered by this warranty. Failure to install your flooring in accordance with the instructions will void all warranties.

The sole obligation and liability of Fluent Floors under our limited warranties is to repair, replace, or refinish the floor, at Fluent Floors’ option. Only Fluent Floors’ floors that were professionally installed will be eligible for labor cost reimbursement. If you installed the floor yourself, we will cover the cost of replacement materials only. (Any and all labor costs must be pre-approved in writing by the Fluent Floors Claims Department prior to any repair work being done.)

These warranties EXCLUDE and will not pay consequential or incidental damages associated with any warranty claim. Fluent Floors will not pay costs associated with relocation during the repair process such as hotel, meals, or moving and storage of furniture. This limitation does not apply to claims for personal injury. Some states do not allow limits on warranties, or on remedies for breach in certain transactions. In such states, the limits in this paragraph may not apply.

No warranty coverage is provided for flooring that contains obvious defects of any kind that were installed nonetheless. If, before installation, you discover any flooring that has obvious defects or does not meet the customer's expectations, please immediately contact the dealer from whom the flooring was purchased and replacement flooring will be provided at no cost.

Only Fluent Floors approved cleaning products are appropriate for use on Fluent Floors products. Use of non-Fluent Floors approved cleaning and maintenance products, including oil soap or ammonia based products, will void all warranties. For a current list of approved products, please call your local dealer, or wood distributor.

The limited warranties do not cover color changes to any flooring which results from exposure to UV light. Normal exposure to sunlight will cause changes in the shading of any wood floor, and this is not considered a defect. Certain species including, but not limited to, American Cherry, Walnut, Brazilian Cherry, Tigerwood, and most Exotics, are especially susceptible to color change. Please contact your Fluent Floors retailer for more information. Area rugs should be moved occasionally, as they block sunlight and may give the appearance of discoloration under the rug.

After your floor is installed, it is critical to maintain the temperature and humidity of the home within the ranges set forth in the applicable installation instructions for the product. All windows must have window covering installed on them. Failure to follow these guidelines, especially with regard to humidity range, can result in a performance failure or damage to your floor. In addition, it is important to maintain your floor in accordance with the Fluent Floors maintenance instructions which can be found in the Fluent Floors maintenance flyer.

These warranties do not cover damage or unsatisfactory performance caused by direct sunlight, excessive moisture or moisture vapor including, but not limited to, improper humidity inside the home, excessive ground moisture that migrates into the home for any reason, excessive sub-floor moisture, water leaks caused by broken pipes or appliances, improper cleaning methods such as wet mopping or automated cleaning machines, weather conditions or natural disasters such as flooding or excessive rainfall.

Since wood is a natural product, it will tend to expand and contract as moisture and humidity levels inside the home may change. Accordingly, normal expansion and contraction which results in minor separations between flooring boards are not covered by these warranties.

Any Fluent Floors product which is designated as “discontinued”, “drop”, “cabin grade”, “tavern grade”, “second”, or “as is” is not covered by the above warranties.

THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION ON THE FACE HEREOF, OR AS OTHERWISE SET FORTH HEREIN. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL FLUENT FLOORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM THE PURCHASE, USE, OR INABILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT, FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, OR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS. YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. YOUR RIGHTS AND THE LIMITATIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. THUS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO RETAIN THIS WARRANTY INFORMATION. FLUENT FLOORS LAMINATE FLOORING QUALITY ASSURANCE WARRANTY

CARE AND MAINTENENCE

Routine Cleaning:

  • Sweep or vacuum using the wand attachment, then follow with a laminate floor care product.
  • In very sandy areas, sweep or vacuum more frequently.
  • For spills or wet areas, immediately wipe with a cloth or sponge and clean with a proper laminate floor cleaner.
  • Laminate flooring, like other types of smooth floors, can become slippery when wet. Allow time to dry after cleaning.
  • Do not use soap-based detergents or “mop and shine” products as these may leave a dull film on your floor.
  • Do not wax or polish your floor.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring powder that can all scratch your floor.

Protect Your Beautiful New Floor:

  • Place a natural or colorfast mat at outside entrances to collect tracked-in dirt and absorb excess moisture.
  • For added indentation resistance, use floor protectors on chairs and other furniture. The heavier the item, the wider the floor protector should be.

High-Moisture Areas:

  • For all installation systems, it is generally a good idea to use 100% silicone caulk in areas of rooms where excessive moisture may be present such as at sinks, dishwashers, icemakers and around pipes.

FULL BATHROOM INSTALLATIONS

100% silicone caulk must be used around the entire perimeter and 3/32” bead of glue on the top of the tongue only. Full bathroom installation for residential use only.

CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY

15 Year Limited Residential Warranty applies only in the following instances:

  1. Our warranty is valid for all the Fluent Floor Laminate floor coverings which have been installed according to installation instructions, provided in each box of laminate and available online, in rooms where they are exposed to the normal wear for their recommended End Use Category according to EN13329, but not in the event of unusual chemical or mechanical stress. The warranty applies for the date of purchase onward. The warranty is not transferable; its terms apply to the first buyer.
  2. The flooring must be installed in accordance with Fluent Floors installation instructions. Warranty does not apply if the laminate flooring has not been cleaned, maintained or cared for as recommended by Fluent Floors.
  3. Entrances should be protected by mats.
  4. Fluent Floors warrants its products against manufacturing defects that exist in its products prior to product installation. Flooring installed with known defects is not covered under this warranty. All product must be inspected for possible, recognizable defects before and during the installation as any right to claim under warranty becomes invalid after product with visible defects have been installed. Warranty claims can only be accepted if the products were delivered by the authorized dealer in the original packaging.
  5. The surface wear or damage must not be the result of abusive conditions, misuse of the product, freight damage, modification, alteration, repair or service of the product by anyone other than the authorized Fluent Floors representative, improper care or maintenance (see care instructions), or accidents, such as but not limited to severe impact, scratching, cutting, negligence or chemical, damage. Gloss reduction is not surface wear. The surface wear must be readily visible from the distance of 6 feet, measuring at least 1 square inch. Wear-through at the edges of the Fluent Floors flooring is excluded from the warranty.
  6. It does not cover water damage caused by natural disasters, standing water (e.g. from appliance failures), excessive moisture emissions from a concrete slab, hydrostatic pressure, pet urine or any other animal by product, or other corrosive liquids or outside water (from snow, rain or water which enters through an open window or door, etc.).
  7. The flooring must be installed in a dry, climate controlled, and indoor, residential environment.
  8. Moldings and accessories are not covered by this warranty.
  9. Use of a floor steam cleaner will damage your floor and void your warranty.
  10. Abrasion Resistance – A claim under the warranty for abrasion defects will be justified if an area of at least one square centimeter of the color has completely rubbed off. However, rub-off defects restricted to the edges of the panel are not covered by the warranty.
  11. Light fastness according to blue wood scale not worse than 6. Test method according to EN20105. With the exception of natural aging.
  12. Resistance to the following products, but must be cleaned immediately: acetone, hand cream, natural fruit or vegetable drinks, fats, coffee, soda drinks, nail lacquer or similar products.

CLAIMS

Any claim must be made in written form and be accompanied by the original sales receipt or proof of purchase. The claim must be lodged within 30 days of the defect in question having become apparent. We reserve the right to inspect the defects ourselves or to have it inspected by our authorized agents, before recognizing the claim.

COMPENSATION UNDER WARRANTY

All compensation under warranty will be strictly in proportion to the market value of the goods in question. The current value is determined on the basis of the warranty period. For example: the compensation payable for Fluent Floors product of end use class 31 / private reduces 1/10 p.a. compared with the original value of goods. If the claim under warranty is recognized, the customer will be provided with the necessary replacement panels free of charge by the dealer from who made the original sale. The costs of the installation, nor any normal wear and tear, are not covered by the warranty. In the event Fluent Floors flooring not being available in the required color, a selection will be made from the product range of equal or lesser value available at that time.

*No Warranty - "Cabin," "Tavern," "Country," or "As Is" **If your floor is sanded down to the bare wood and a new finish is applied, all finish warranties must be assumed by the finish manufacturer.

FLUENT FLOORS VINYL PLANK FLOORING QUALITY ASSURANCE WARRANTY

CARE AND MAINTENENCE

During installation and after the flooring is completely installed, all dirt and construction debris should be removed and the floor swept clean. Immediately clean up all spills with a damp rag. Vacuum or sweep the floor regularly to remove all soil, grit and sand. Do not use vacuum with a beater brush. For regular maintenance, sweep dirt and damp mop regularly with warm water and vinyl floor cleaner. Do not use soap based detergents or abrasive cleaners. Instead, use neutral floor cleaners. To restore shine, use floor polish that does not contain oil based ingredients or solvents. Application of liquid floor cleaner at least once a month is recommended. To avoid possible permanent indentation or surface damage, proper floor protection devices must be used under the furniture and appliances. Exercise care when removing or replacing furniture or appliances. Always use clean equipment! Dirty equipment only redistributes the dirt.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The moisture content of a concrete subfloor should not be over 5%. Higher moisture rates will lead to all types of problems. It will retard the setting of adhesive and also affect the bond strength and adhesion between the adhesive and subfloor. Temperature is also very important. Installation can be performed between 50 F and 97 F. The ideal temperature is about 75 F. Temperatures over 97 will lead to a shorter set time of adhesive and a poor adhesion. Lower temperatures will prevent a proper bond between the surface and the plank. Proper acclimation is also of importance. We recommend at least 24 hours of acclimatization so the flooring substrate, the Vinyl plank and the adhesive are exposed to the right condition.
